How Often Does A Cockapoo Need Grooming?
Cockapoos have been among the most popular dog breeds in the UK for the last few years because the cross-breed between Cocker Spaniels and Poodles, with their thick coats and floppy ears, are undeniably adorable.
However, there is more to having a dog than just enjoying its cute factor and it is essential to look after them properly, including getting them groomed regularly.
This is even more essential with Cockapoos, as their coats, whether curly, wavy or straight, are nearly always prone to knotting.
That is why it is wise to send your canine in for Cockapoo grooming every four to six weeks to keep its coat thick and healthy, and at the right length.
Some owners might be tempted to groom their dog themselves, but Cockapoos have particularly difficult coats to brush, cut and style.
There is also a wide variety of haircuts you might not have thought about, from the teddy bear cut, which creates a round head shape and keeps hair long while removing fur from around their eyes, to the lamb cut.
This look involves keeping the fur around their face, legs and tail long but shaving the rest of the body.
There is also the Cockapoo cocker cut, which is a good choice for those with straight fur; the fluffy cut, with long hair kept on the head and ears and short for the rest of the body; and the summer shave, which is simply shaving the fur to keep them cool for the hotter months.
While it is not advisable to style your pet’s fur yourself, owners should still brush their dog’s hair a few times a week to avoid it becoming knotted.
