Should You Give Your Dog A Spring Clean?
We talk about giving our home a spring clean, our winter wardrobes a sort through, and even our own style a shake-up once the days brighten up. But should you give your dog a new make-over in the springtime?
The short answer is ‘yes’. Though canines need regular grooming all year round, they grow thicker, heavier fur during the winter months, which begins to shed once the weather warms up.
So, you might find your house soon becomes covered in pet hair if you don’t give it a timely chop. As well as causing a mess in your newly polished home, long hair can cause matting if it is not dealt with promptly.
The best thing to do is give dogs a bath, as this will loosen any fur that is starting to fall out, then give it a good brush through to remove them.
They also need their winter coat trimming, as it will be too warm for them once the temperature rises. This will also prevent their fur from getting tangled or caught on bushes when they run outside.
As well as warmer weather, spring brings lots of pollen and insects. So you need to make sure your dog is brushed regularly to remove these from its fur. This is particularly important if anyone in the house suffers from allergies, as this can make their symptoms worse.
It is sensible to give your dog a good groom as we head into spring, so book a doodle or cockapoo haircut to ensure their fur is kept in good condition.
